Today is Tynwald Day in the Isle of Man with festivities celebrating the family and honouring national pride. Last year’s celebrations were such a rousing success that the games and events held today are extended even farther. There will be dancing, music, drum and pipe and bands. Often to culminate the evening fireworks are shot. However, with the dangers associated with fireworks, why not substitute flying lanterns instead so that you can have the same brilliant display in the night sky while having a much safer experience? In addition, you can use environmentally friendly sky lanterns so that you can “go green” and be eco friendly and keep the wildlife and countryside safe.

In ancient times, flying lanterns were used to send prayers to the heavens and to honour a particular event or person. During Tynwald Day national pride is celebrated and flying lanterns are the ideal addition to the celebration. In keeping with tradition, why not use flying lanterns to honour nation pride just as the flying lanterns were used to celebrate occasions in ancient times. The first Tynwald Day occurred in 1417 but flying lanterns were around much earlier. It is quite possible even in the earliest Tynwald Day celebrations that flying lanterns were used. However, a variation of the traditional sky lanterns such as the ones found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/sky-lanterns/white-traditional-sky-lanterns/prod_8.html were likely used.

Today you can choose from a variety of different flying lanterns. You can use large flying lanterns, coloured flying lanterns or even novelty flying lanterns. A football lanterns would be a great addition to Tynwald Day to celebrate not only this national event but also to incorporate the fun of World Cup football. But, one of the best options for flying lanterns is the eco lantern found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/eco-lanterns/eco-lanterns-no-wire-/prod_33.html. These eco friendly flying lanterns are designed without any wire whatsoever. While all flying lanterns are eco friendly, the no wire flying lanterns will degrade even faster when exposed to the elements.

The eco friendly flying lanterns are similar to the other flying lanterns with a few exceptions. First, the fuel cell is attached instead of needing to be attached separately. This actually makes launching the flying lanterns faster and easier. Also, most other flying lanterns have a small amount of wire in them. While there will be very little left after a few days, the wire take a bit longer to degrade.  With the no wire options there is no trace of the flying lantern after a few days ensuring there is no waste whatsoever. For anyone who wants to celebrate Tynwald Day on the Isle of Man awhile being eco friendly the eco lanterns are the best options.

Instead of celebrating Tynwald Day with fire works that can pose a danger to the environment and the country side as well as pose a fire hazard, opt for flying lanterns. They are much safer to use. When you light them and set them off they will still provide a spectacular view in the night sky. But you will be environmentally friendly and safer.
