This month marks the famous Brighton Festival, a festival that celebrates the arts. This year there will be performances of dance, music and theatre all month long in addition to art exhibitions, book readings and debates. This annual event began in 1966 and is still going strong. Performance art is one of the types of art that will be feature this month. After enjoying some of the incredible art from talented artists and performers throughout the UK, why not add your own art to the sky by launching sky lanterns? It is a great way to pay homage to the art that is exhibited at the Brighton Festival this month.

Unique Ways to Use Sky Lanterns as Art

One of the fun characteristics of sky lanterns is their ability to be customized. You can use a sharpie marker to create messages or artwork on the lantern to make them completely unique. In celebration of the Brighton Festival, why not use sky lanterns to memorialize your own art work. Artists can create designs or pictures on the sky lanterns. As they float to the ground, if someone finds it they can have an interesting piece of art. For writers and poets, why not create poems or excerpts from written works and add them to the sky lanterns? This is a fun and unique idea to make the sky lantern completely your own.

Types of Sky Lanterns to Use

You can use either white sky lanterns or coloured ones to display your particular brand of art. For a very fun experience, try the Mega Cube Lanterns such as the ones found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/novelty-sky-lanterns/mega-cube-lanterns/prod_28.html. These giant sky lanterns will be especially fun if you have a group of artists each contributing to a side of the lantern. Each artist can put their unique spin on the lanterns so you have various pieces on each side. Not only is this fun but a great way to express your artistic side. Once you complete your work you will have a great time launching it and watching it float into the night sky. Plus, it is fun to speculate on whether or not someone will find it.

Customized Sky Lanterns can Lend Exposure to your Art

For those who decide to customize their art, you can even use it as a form of advertising by adding your name and website to it. If the sky lanterns are found and your work appreciated it could gain you customers. But even if your art is not found, you can rest assured that releasing sky lanterns will not contribute to waste. You can use the Eco Lanterns such as the ones found at http://www.nightskylanterns.co.uk/eco-lanterns/eco-lanterns-no-wire-/prod_33.html. While all sky lanterns are biodegradable, these EcoLanterns are even more environmentally friendly. They contain no wire so will degrade at a significantly faster rate. If your art gets found, it is a great memento for someone but if not you will rest assured with the knowledge that you are being environmentally responsible.
