Kongming Lanterns, Traditional Flying Lanterns across the Night Sky

Kongming Lanterns are another term for Chinese Lanterns, albeit with more of a traditional feel about it. Kongming Lanterns have their roots set in ancient china, along with a folklore which is based around a military strategist by the name of Zhuge Liang. Liang is reputed to have used a lantern to write his message of help on when he was imprisoned in the City of Pingyan in China. Liangs knowledge of wind and weather enabled him to create the Kongming Lantern, and signal for help.. or that is how the story goes.

Whatever the reason, Kongming Lanterns, Flying Lanterns, call them what you will, have since become a familiar sight at festivals, weddings, birthdays, new years eve and other occasions, as guests and revellers use them to celebrate whatever occasion they decide. Kongming lanterns are a safe and attractive alternative to fireworks, and their rise in popularity continues to grow.
