Candles are often used to add atmosphere to a room, whether it’s to create a romantic mood or a warm and calming glow during a cold winter’s night.

Fragranced candles can be used to add to the mood of a room, with brands such as the New Yankee Candle Workshop providing a wide variety of scents for any setting.

In addition candles can also be used to illuminate lanterns and candle bags in order to create enchanting and special lighting effects.

For some people, the wax tea light is the traditional option  but now there are battery powered LED Tea Lights too.  So which light source is best for your home decoration?

Here we provide some perspectives  to help you decide:

Wax tea lights

  • Emit a brighter light
  • When placed inside a candle bag the illumination is constant i.e. there is little or no flicker because the flame is sheltered
  • Burns for between approximately 4 hours
  • Usually cheaper in price
  • Can also be used to heat scented waxes, lava lamps and even fondue pots

LED Tea Lights

LED Tea Lights

  • Produce a natural flickering light which helps add atmosphere and realism
  • No heat, no flame and no smoke makes them child-friendly
  • Last up to 50 hours (battery is replaceable)
  • Easier to turn off and on and to move about
  • No melted wax means no mess

Both wax and LED Tea Lights can be used with a wide variety of products and holders – including candle bagswater floating lanterns and decorative paper hanging lanterns.

When it comes to lighting your home, it is really down to personal choice and circumstances, but we’re hoping that our little guide will help you make your decision making a little easier.
