Have you wondered about using Chinese Hanging Lanterns but are unsure how they work? If you want to use Chinese Hanging Lanterns at your celebration they are very easy to use and they come with a complete set of easy to read instructions. After you launch your first one you will be a pro at it. It is easy and fun and will look stunning when you launch that at your next party or special occasion. But, if you want to know more, you can take a look at the easy step by step guide on using Chinese Hanging Lanterns for your next event:

Using Chinese Hanging Lanterns Step One: Choose the Chinese Hanging Lanterns you want

The first step in using Chinese Hanging Lanterns is to choose the ones you want to use. This is often the most fun part of the process but there are plenty to choose from and each one is unique. Traditional sky lanterns in white are some of the most popular, especially for more formal occasions. You can find them at Or you can get coloured lanterns, cylindrical lanterns, large or mega cube lanterns and event novelty lanterns. Novelty lanterns are fun for birthdays and more casual events and can be found at

Using Chinese Hanging Lanterns Step Two: Make sure you know the basic safety rules

To use sky lanterns you always want to make sure safety is a priority. Choose a day where there is no inclement weather to contend with and it is relatively calm. If you are launching Chinese Hanging Lanterns with children, make sure they are supervised at all times. Do not use damaged sky lanterns and make sure you do not launch them near any obstructions. Chinese Hanging Lanterns are eco friendly, biodegradable and non flammable so are safe to use with some basic precautions.

Using Chinese Hanging Lanterns Step Three: Get the Chinese Hanging Lanterns ready for launch

Each paper lantern comes individually wrapped. So, in order to use them they will need to first be unwrapped and laid out. This is where you can personalize the Chinese Hanging Lanterns if you so choose. You can use a sharpie marker and write a saying, message or draw a picture on it. Inspect the paper lantern for damage and if all is well you are ready to attach the fuel cell if needed. For some Chinese Hanging Lanterns such as the mega cube lantern and the eco-lanterns, the fuel cell is already attached. But for others, you will need to do it. It is quick and easy.

Using Chinese Hanging Lanterns Step Four: Light and launch your sky lanterns

The final step is to light the fuel cell. As you light it and the air fills the lantern it will expand and be ready for launch. As you release it, the Chinese Hanging Lanterns will drift into the night sky and create a stunning visual effect that can be seem for many kilometres. The more you release, the more dramatic the vision. Make sure to take pictures and send them in so we can see how you used the sky lanterns.
